Method
- Use a cherry pitter to remove pits from the fresh cherries, placing the pitted cherries into your measuring cup.
- Add the pitted cherries to the blender, then pour in the sugar and lemon juice if using.
- Pulse the blender a few times to start breaking down the cherries, releasing their juices and aroma.
- Add the ice cubes to the blender, then blend on high until the mixture becomes smooth, thick, and icy—about 30 seconds.
- Stop the blender and check the consistency; it should be frostily thick with a bright red hue, slightly chunky but mostly smooth.
- Taste the slushie and add more sugar or lemon juice if desired, then give it a quick blend to incorporate.
- Pour the cherry slushie into glasses, and serve immediately with a straw or garnish if you like.
Notes
For the best texture, use frozen cherries or freeze the blended mixture briefly before serving. Feel free to add a splash of sparkling water for extra fizz or a splash of alcohol for an adult version.
