Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings preferably drumettes and flats
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce for the glaze and marinade
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey for sweetness and gloss
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for coating wings

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Cooking brush

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps them cook crispy and evenly.
  3. Toss the wings in a bowl with soy sauce, minced garlic, and olive oil until well coated. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Arrange the marinated wings on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, spacing them out so they crisp up nicely.
  5. Place the wings in the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they turn golden brown and crispy around the edges.
  6. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing soy sauce with honey in a small bowl until combined.
  7. Remove the wings from the oven once they are crispy and golden. Brush them generously with the soy-honey glaze using a cooking brush.
  8. Return the coated wings to the oven for another 5 minutes to set the glaze and enhance the caramelization.
  9. Take the wings out of the oven and let them rest for a couple of minutes. The glaze will thicken slightly and cling to the crispy skin.
  10. Arrange the wings on a serving platter, shaping them slightly into bat-like forms if desired for a spooky effect, and serve immediately while crispy.

Notes

For extra texture, sprinkle with sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving. These wings are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a hot oven to regain crispy edges.
