Ingredients

  • 2 cups water for boiling and steeping
  • 2 bags black tea preferably high-quality loose or bagged tea
  • 1 stick cinnamon or 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 cloves whole cloves for infusion
  • 1/4 cup honey adjust to taste
  • 4 cups ice cubes for blending

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large bowl

Method

  1. Combine water in a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Add the tea bags, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the hot water. Turn off the heat and let the mixture steep for 5-7 minutes, filling your kitchen with warm, spiced aroma.
  3. Remove the tea bags and spice stick, then strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl to catch any loose spices and leaves, ensuring a smooth, grit-free tea.
  4. Stir in the honey into the warm spicy tea until fully dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, about 10 minutes.
  5. Pour the cooled tea into a blender, add the ice cubes, and blend on high until the mixture is smooth, frosty, and velvety—the consistency of a slushie.
  6. Taste the slushie and adjust sweetness if needed—add more honey or a squeeze of citrus, then blend again briefly to incorporate.
  7. Pour the spiced iced tea slushie into glasses, garnishing with a cinnamon stick or a slice of citrus if desired, and serve immediately for the best icy experience.

Notes

You can customize the spice level by adding more cloves or cinnamon. For a fruitier twist, add fresh berries or citrus zest before blending.
